How To Become Self-Sufficient?... hint- YOU ALREADY ARE...

Many years ago, almost everyone was self-sufficient. So what happened to today's society?

The idea of "Work Smarter, Not Harder" comes into play here, but it is very much a double edged sword. People think "Working Smarter" means paying someone else do something for them, when in turn it actually opens up the door for them to become more complacent and allows for an excuse of why the general population is not progressing (intellectually) the way they should be. People can "work smarter, not harder" on their own problems and situations without having to pawn it on off on someone else. That is the only way for personal growth to occur.

Being self-sufficient is going back to the basics. Strip everything down, spend the time, and do it right. Only in that process can one benefit and gain knowledge. After that point, you can engineer ways to simplify and organize the process for future doings; this is where the "Not Harder" part comes about.

Preparing yourself mentally for a massive lifestyle change such as going Off Grid is a necessity, as we are so accustomed to the fast paced life that modern technology rules. Raising toddlers, I am the first to admit that I utilize technology, just so I can have a 5 minute break! People cut corners, and that's ok. The trick is to be consciously aware and stop the cycle. You have the power to adjust, you have the strength to adjust.

Re- Teach yourself patience. Slowly take the extras away until you are left with the minimum. You already know how to do it. Stop relying on other things to get you through your day. Stop using the dishwasher, and wash the dishes yourself. Stop with the mindless watching of the Tv, and play some music and dance around the living room. Stop with the instant foods, and make a real dinner. Stop with the video games, and go outside and be productive. Stop with the over buying of extremely over priced goods, and instead shop clearance for necessities. Get in touch with your imagination again; get creative. Start painting, or drawing. Start baking; start a hobby. Better yourself, and knowledge will start flowing. The mindset of "passing the buck" needs to stop. Get your hands dirty. You'll be surprised and proud of what you can accomplish, and be shocked on how much money you'll save.

If you're doing these simple changes in everyday life, you may not even be aware, but you are already well on your way to having a self-sufficient lifestyle. Cultivate it, and let it grow. The changes you make turn into habits, and the habits turn into new ways of thinking and teaching others. We can better our society, together.

With Love & Light,

Kelly
